Oh baby, it’s cold.
Original Photograph by Beth Hommel.

Designed for some very special folks.

Apologies to The Dresden Dolls, Post War Trade, and Amanda F’ing Palmer.
I’m taking the whole of the day (after I do yoga in a bit) to work on commissions. I’m full of sick and yuck and bloody noses and stuffed sinuses, so all the work I should have done this week has been spent sipping tea and coughing up a lung.
Artowrk to be posted late, late tonight.
In the meanwhile, the bunny Tucker has decided that he VERY MUCH wants to be able to sit on the radiator below my kitchen window. I set things up so that it is indeed safe, and he cannot slide off any of the surfaces. I had placed a small Australian aboriginal painting in the window, which has the colors I’d eventually like to accent the kitchen with. This painting, since setting things up for Tucker, has been mysteriously falling from the window ledge.
I figured out why and caught it on my iPhone.
I’m working on commissions tomorrow, so new posts of artwork should be up on Sunday sometime. In the meanwhile, enjoy this adorable bunny rabbit.
Playing with the WACOM tablet because:
a) I have discovered I draw poorly on it. I’m too old fashioned.
b) I can’t sleep. Should I be making a lesson plan for the after-school art classes. Yes, I should Was I? No.
c) I’m still cold.
A little something for a local bar. Last minute soek and isn’t as nice as I’d like, but there you go.
What part of design, illustration, and painting tells everyone else, “Please ask me to make something at the last minute.” All I can say is thank goodness for free fonts and an account at a stock image source.
phew
This commission is for another artist, asked for by a mutual friend.
I did a lot of this painting while watching/listening to the TV series “Lost”. So, I find it fascinating that the lady looked more and more like the actress who plays Kate. She doesn’t so much anymore, but for quite a while I wondered how much watching that show was influencing her features.
The strong shadows and the muscles on her back have been particularly difficult to make look “correct”. this is one of the many times I wish I could step outside of myself to set up an accurate pose to work from … yes, I took a lot of blurry photographs to work from and none were quite right. So, in this case, Frankenlady is a hodge-podge of model photos, photos of myself, and a lot of idealization. It still needs a lot of work.
Enjoy.
