New Project

A little, big project I’ve finally started to put together.
This particular one isn’t finished by any means, but a little look at where it’s at.
It’s going somewhere …
Well. It’s looking better at least. I have to say that this creamy, peachy, tabby coloring is a BITCH to paint.
This commission is for another artist, asked for by a mutual friend.
I did a lot of this painting while watching/listening to the TV series “Lost”. So, I find it fascinating that the lady looked more and more like the actress who plays Kate. She doesn’t so much anymore, but for quite a while I wondered how much watching that show was influencing her features.
The strong shadows and the muscles on her back have been particularly difficult to make look “correct”. this is one of the many times I wish I could step outside of myself to set up an accurate pose to work from … yes, I took a lot of blurry photographs to work from and none were quite right. So, in this case, Frankenlady is a hodge-podge of model photos, photos of myself, and a lot of idealization. It still needs a lot of work.
Enjoy.
Bunny Molecules (full drawing), originally uploaded by Gothbunny.
Someone suggested to me in a fit of caffeine, what bunny molecules might look like. We’ve talked about Cuteons, the cuteness energy that rabbits give off, responsible for the amazing ability that rabbits have of placating just about anybody.
These are my bunny molecules, cuteons, or Bun2O. Still needs some tweeking here and there, but that’s why it’s a sketch. I’m still holding onto the idea of blowing it up this summer and making a HUGE painting of it. But no, not in pink.
Self Portrait, originally uploaded by Gothbunny.
Assigned, this time. The assignment was to do a self portrait with strong, single-source lighting. I know the ears are too high, but my head was tilted down slightly…. sadly, it looks weird so I’m going to have to try to elongate them to compensate. The collar bone also looks odd, so I’m going to be back and fix that today also.
In Progress, originally uploaded by Gothbunny.
As the title says, this is in progress. Hopefully, this will be one of a pair of paintings (diptych to be). You can’t see it in this snapshot, but in the grassy, palette knife painting around her, there are various letters of the American Sign Language Fingerspelling Alphabet as well as some stylized Lily of the Valley flowers. I will take better photos when this gets farther along, but I was hoping for a little feedback first. This painting, and the other that you can see on Flickr are to be carted off to a studio on Friday to figure out “how the hell do you hang these things?”.
